Banner Year For Mohawk Concessions

Becky O'Brien reported concession profits of $2,981.14 for this Spring, an incredible success for Mohawk Baseball. Thanks to Becky, who proved flexible and resourceful every time she was faced with last minute changes. We had fantastic cooperation from all our parents, but special thanks to those who came to the rescue on short notice. As has been stated so many times, the Concession Stand is the source of funds for ALL baseball equipment and projects...so its importance simply cannot be overstated. Great job parents and special thanks again to Becky for making it all work.

2009 Pictures From Site

Beth Unser just posted additional shots from the Lincolnwood game which can be accessed by CLICKING HERE. Most of these are of the Lancers, but there are several that may be of interest to Mohawk parents as well. You are reminded to order directly from Beth & Raeanne for the best price. Coach M has compiled a collection of most (all?) of the pictures posted to the Mohawk Baseball Photo Site and is burning a DVD of all pictures. Parents are reminded that: (A)These shots were taken by the girls and CoachM (B)Have been edited and therefor have lost some quality (C) Are not in the same universe of quality as the pro shots...interested individuals may get a copy of the DVD (there are a lot of pictures so we are using a DVD and NOT a CD...I don't know just what Walmart's reader will handle). The disk is being supplied as a thank you to all who worked the concession stand...there is no charge...please only request one if there is a reasonable chance the disk will get used. And, as they say, "you get what you pay for," so enjoy at whatever level you can :-). Disks have been burned and are ready...email coachm@mohawks.net or call Coach M at 820-2441 and leave a message!

New Wing Royalty For 2009

The Mohawks closed out the 2009 season will another assault on the "Wall of Flame" after rain washed out the Lincolnwood game for the 6th time this season. Two hearty souls took on the challenge and staked their claim to Wing Immortality, adding their names to the Pantheon of Mohawk Wall of Flame Champions, each in his own unique and spectacular way. Senior Jake Elmore becomes the first Mohawk to go back-to-back, using a slow and rather unsteady pace to tackle his stack of wings while fellow Flamer, Zach Rever demolished his pile in record setting fashion, taking the time to lick up his remaining Wall sauce. Both fought off ugly bouts with regurgitation and unrelenting taunts by less than supportive teammates, most of whom couldn't stand the very smell of the sauce, but were more than willing to sign their names quite boldly on the T-shirt that now graces the walls of Wings, Etc. Congrats on the newest members of the Mohawk Wall of Flame. Pictures can be accessed HERE!

Summer Fundraising Work Schedule...Revised

Note: Original posted dates were incorrect...please check dates below. The Mohawks will complete 3 separate fundraising projects during the summer. The most extensive will be covering the concession stand at the PMRA during 3 weekend tournaments. This is a big job, and involves a commitment of 3 weekends. This is the 3rd summer for the Mohawks teaming with the PMRA...we need ALL Mohawks...HS & JH to make this work. Weekends will be May 30 & 31, June 13 & 14, July 10, 11 & 12. The Mohawks will also be measuring for the Morrisonville Frog Jump during the picnic on Thursday, July 23rd. The final fundraiser involves State Fair Barn cleaning on Wednesday evening, August 19th. Work schedules are now posted on this site and we'll keep the link up throughout the summer. We'll use the school reach call system to remind as well. Players MUST notify Coach M if they cannot make a shift and cannot find a replacement!

Top Ten Presentation OnLine...Revised Edition

The 2009 Mohawk Baseball Top 10 was unveiled during the Wings Challenge...a couple of versions are now available. Have added a couple of new items...so we now have a top 12! These may take some time to download depending on your Internet connection. You can download the full powerpoint presentation which is cleaner, but will take longer to download. The quickest download will be the webpage version, but it will not show up as cleanly. The middle option should work fine in the browser but will take longer to start playing due to the size of the file.

Two Mohawks Named To MSM All-Conference

Cody Unser was named 1st team All-MSM and Jake Elmore was named to the second team for the 2009 season. The MSM conference has 8 baseball playing schools, which is the most ever for the conference. With a final 8-5 conference record, the individual All-MSM recognition is also a reflection of team accomplishments, so all Mohawks are to be congratulated as well. At present, both players are contemplating continuing their baseball careers at the collegiate level, with both having looked at Blackburn and Robert Morris.

Individual Record Holders Added To Records Page

The two Mohawks who joined the Century Club have been added to the web page, and we have serveral who are now listed on the Mohawk All-Time list is several categories. Three Mohawks cracked the list for most career games, with Michael Wempen, Jake Elmore and Cody Unser all having played in more than 100 games in their Mohawk careers (Mike's 121 put him at 4th). Jake's 108 career hits put him just behind his hero Mark Ferrill for career hits. Cody Unser made the list for career innings and era, along with his ERA for this season. Matthew Weitekamp's 29 stolen bases is the most for any Mohawk since 2004.

Dedication of Cade Snyder Plaque

The brick enclosure for the Cade Snyder plaque was dedicated prior to the Mohawks regional game vs Girard. Thanks to the Girard team and fans for permitting us to celebrate Cade's life and memory as a Mohawk along with his Mom & Dad. We are looking for ways to light the memorial which will remain a permanent part of the home plate pavilion. Thanks to all former Mohawks and parents who joined in the ceremony. Tami sent the following email this morning:

"Yesterday was very touching, Bob.  I hated to leave before the game was over, but had a meeting that I couldn't miss at our church in Girard.  I sure wondered (and struggled and agonized) all those years ago about why God had set us on a path that wound it's way through Morrisonville, but now I know.  All things work toward good for those who love the Lord, and He allowed us (the entire Snyder family)  to meet and befriend some wonderful people who have impacted our lives forever.

Thank you for the memories!"

Bill really enjoyed throwing out the first pitch as well. Below are some of the links to the original dedication of the wall including the text of Cade's essay.

Great Time In KC!

Thanks for the cooperation form all during the KC Trip, the rain threw us a real curve, some flexibility from all who were part of our group was important. Pictures will be posted later in the week, but the camera was only in action for the lightflite game so it will be somewhat limited. If you have shots from Cabella's, Bass Pro, Sheraton, the pool, Bryant's or the Royals game...pass them along and we'll post with the shots Coach M got. Final count for the group was 90 and we had additional group members who met us in KC. Special thanks to Coco Crisp for his stolen base..the strawberry slushes the team picked up for free in Oak Grove were REALLY good.

KC Trip Pictures

Thanks for patience at the hotel, and if Coach M had to make one change it would have been to leave later, knowing we were not going to play a real game. That would have made the hotel situation work much better. Still interested in response concerning Bryant's...the sauce is likely an acquired taste, but it is unique. The stadium proved to be as good as advertised as well.

Mohawk Splash Down

From 11 games played in one week, to zero the next. Prom preparations kept the Mohawks out of the gym all week, so it was time to improvise. Gloomy, damp and cold weather couldn't stop the Mohawks on Friday as they took advantage of "perfect" sliding conditions to splash around Memorial Field. To see the picture collection CLICK HERE!
