Mohawk Baseball Spring Trip 2011

Sheraton

The Mohawks are in the process of scheduling a Spring Trip game in Kansas City, Missouri for the weekend of April 30th & May 1st. Details are are falling into place, but the latest information should generally be found on this page!

Present plans include an early morning departure Saturday (4:00 AM) and a game to be played at Crysler Stadium in Independence, Missouri or Avila University's Field on Saturday morning at approximately 10 AM. The team that we'll be playing has Prom that evening, thus the early start time. We will only be playing a varsity game, we may try to follow it up with something for dads as well.

We will be staying across from the Royals Stadium at the Holiday Inn Sports Complex Hotel. The Hotel contains an indoor water park and will be very convenient for access to the Stadium. Group rates at the hotel are $90 and include continental breakfast. Tickets for the CoCo Key Waterpark will be discounted to $10 and I think we'll be able to make time for those interested. Let Coach M know if you're interested in a room reservation. The Royals have a game on Saturday evening at 6:10 and the hotel has a free shuttle service to the Stadium. The Sunday game features a special activity following the game with Jim Morris (subject of the movie "The Rookie") speaking to the crowd LINK FOR Info. The also allow all fans who are interested to run the bases following Sunday games...so have at it Mohawks.

The team and fans will attend the Royals game on Sunday at 1:10. Royals are playing the Minnesota Twins. We have tickets reserved in the left field corner that are $31 and include $15 in concession credit. Other ticket options are available, but I've reserved 45 in this location. If you want a block of seats in another location, just let me know and I'm sure they'll work with us. I can get $9 upper deck seats and they have $7 walk-up tickets in limited supply on game days.

The team will make a stop at Arthur Bryant BBQ for one of the meals. Bryant's is regarded as one of the best BBQ joints in KC and the country, and is hands down Coach M's favorite restuarant in the world. Other sites located very close to the Hotel include a newly completed Bass Pro Shop. We will likely drive across town on Saturday to the Legends Mall. The Mall is located next to the KC Speedway and includes a Cabella's.
